EU TERMIS 2025-Freiburg
We had the pleasure of attending TermisEU2025, which—according to the organizers—was the largest gathering among all regional and global TERMIS conferences to date. A huge shout-out to the organizers for creating such an inspiring and dynamic environment for scientific networking, collaboration, and exchange!
This year’s focus on the third wave of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, with a strong emphasis on clinical translation, was evident throughout the presentations and discussions. It was truly exciting to see how rapidly research in our field is moving toward real-world applications.
For the first time, our entire team participated together at TermisEU2025 in Freiburg. We presented a diverse range of topics, including:
-
muscle tissue bioprinting
-
muscle cell labeling and magnetic stimulation
-
gene delivery using microneedles
-
biodegradable copolymers for cardiovascular implants
Our group was represented by Tayná Copes Rodrigues and Lys Sprenger from the University of Bayreuth, as well as Hanin Alkhamis from Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, all working within the framework of DFG Collaborative Research Center SFB-TRR225.
We returned to Bayreuth energized and full of new insights, connections, and wonderful memories. From reconnecting with colleagues to sharing our work and enjoying lively moments as a team, we are more motivated than ever to turn these experiences into meaningful progress in our research.
A special highlight was meeting prominent leaders in our field, including:
-
Prof. Lorenzo Moroni (MERLN Institute, Maastricht University)
-
Prof. Abhay Pandit (Director, CÚRAM – Centre for Research in Medical Devices, University of Galway)
-
Prof. Heinz Riedl (Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Traumatology)
